How Much Will It Cost?

Media Blasting

Removal of all graphics, paint, rust, grease in preparation for powder coating. Media blasting is performed in-house using medias and pressures suited to the base material

Frame Only

$60

Standard metal frame (less than 60cm) without fork

60cm and above, add $10

Frame and Fork

$75

Standard metal frame (less than 60cm) and metal fork

60cm and above, add $10

Mixte Frame and Fork

Salvage Existing Chrome Plating

$10 Minimum

Protective masking of chrome plated area to prevent damage from media blasting

Previously Powder Coated Items

$40 Additional

Items which have been previously powder coated, or have multiple layers of paint are chemically stripped prior to the blasting process.

Wet Paint Match Carbon Fork

$100

Quite often a carbon fork can be wet painted to match the powder coat finish, or painted a contrasting color.  Powder coating carbon is not an option.


Powder Coating

Services include the basic masking of all threaded surfaces and areas where coating would interfere with reassembly, head tubes, seat tubes, etc. Prices below do not include powder materials. These must be purchased separately.

Single Stage - Frame & Fork

$110

A single stage color that does not require a special base coat or top coat.  Most colors fall into this category.  Descriptions on the powder supplier web site will have this information.

Single Stage - Frame Only

$90

A single stage color that does not require a special base coat or top coat.  Most colors fall into this category.  Descriptions on the powder supplier web site will have this information.

Additional Stages

$50 minimum - special masking additional

Some powders, candies for example, require a special base or top coat in order to achieve the desired effect. Descriptions on the powder supplier web site will have this information. 

Special Masking

Quoted by project

Special masking of salvaged chrome or to accomplish multi-color patterns, different colored lugs for example, are bid on an individual basis based on complexity.

Full Suspension Frames

$250 Minimum

Full Suspension Frames require significantly more masking and attention to details than a standard frame.  Removal or installation of pressed in bearings is additional.


Frame and Mechanical Services

Groody Bros. offers limited in-house frame modification and repair services to steel frames. We also provide mechanical services for disassembly and reassembly of your bicycle

Braze-On - Small Items

$40 per pair

Braze-On additions such as rack mounts, water bottle bosses, housing stops, shifter bosses, and the like generally run $30 per pair.  Please request a quote for unique applications

Disassembly / Reassembly

Not Available

We have discontinued this service. Please use your local bike shop for this. Send us only parts to be processed. The only exception is the removal and reinstallation of headsets and bottom brackets, which we do at no charge.

Cold Setting of Drop Outs

$25

Steel frames only.  Alters the drop out spacing to accommodate a different hub width.

Frame Alignment

$25

Steel frames only.  Check and adjust as necessary the rear drop outs for symmetry, parallel surfaces, and derailleur hanger alignment.

Wheel Building - Disassembly and Re-Lacing

$100 Minimum

Disassembly and re-lacing of conventional wheels, usually for the purpose of powder coating the rims.  New spokes and nipples will always be used and are priced separately.  

Wheel Hub Rebuilding

$40 Minimum

We also have experience rebuilding hubs, coaster brake and automatic (kickback).  Includes complete disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly.


Finishing Touches

Groody Bros. offers the creation and/or application of graphics to your frame. You may source commercially manufactured decals or allow us to create custom graphics from cut vinyl. A clear top coat is recommended after application to enhance appearance and durability.

Chrome Plating

No Longer Available

Due to the closure of our local vendors, we no longer offer this service

Commercial Decal Application*

$25 Minimum

Application of purchased decal sets.  See a list of vendors on our Resources page.  Price is determined by the number of decals to be applied and the complexity of application.


*We will no longer apply waterslide decals.

Custom Graphics in Cut Vinyl

$60 Minimum

Send us your designs in a .jpg, .eps, or vector art to be recreated in durable cut  vinyl.  Price quotes available on request.  Pricing based on number of graphics to be created, complexity, and number of colors.

Clear Urethane Topcoat

$80

Clear topcoat can be applied over vinyl decals for additional durability. The exception being when the powder used is a dormant or one of the "Illusion" series of colors. Solvents in the urethane react with these powders causing pigments to migrate through the decals.

As a convenience to our customers we offer pickup and delivery to the greater Kansas City metro area.
